Spring time is always a good time for some house cleaning and of course some health checks.
ORAchk replaces the popular RACcheck tool, extending the coverage based on prioritization of top issues reported by users, to also proactively scan for known problems within a wider range of products.
ORAchk version 2.2.4 is now available for download through MySupport.Oracle.com
This script is builded to audit several important configuration settings within Real Application Clusters, Oracle Portable Clusterware and Automatic Storage Management environment , in addition to non- Real Application Clusters, Oracle Golden Gate configuration and other Oracle products over time. Latest release now covers Oracle E-Business Suite Financials Accounts Payables and Solaris under Oracle Sun Systems
Some ORAchk features:
- Proactively scans for the most impactful problems across the various layers of your stack
- Simplifies and streamlines how to investigate and analyze which known issues present a risk to you
- Lightweight tool runs within your environment; no data will be sent to Oracle
- High level reports show your system health risks with the ability to drill down into specific problems and understand their resolutions
- Can be configured to send email notifications when it detects problems
- Collection Manager, a companion Application Express web app, provides a single dashboard view of collections across your entire enterprise
OraCHK can be used with any database versions 10gR2 onwards, while the platforms (OS) that it can be used include Linux x86-64, Oracle Solaris SPARC and Solaris x86-64, AIX and HPUX. See requirement on the the relevant MOS note. To obtain the most out of ORAchk, root access (via password or SUDO) is recommended.
Usage of ORACHK
- Download the ORAchk: The latest version of ORAchk is attached to Note 1268927.1 and can be downloaded there.
- Unzip orachk.zip kit $ unzip orachk.zip
- Give to permission $ chmod 755 orachk
- You can execute with following commands ...
$ ./orachk (for regular healtcheck as well as HA best practices)
$ ./orachk-c hacheck (Only HA best practices) - After finish, the following (or similar) will be displayed:
Detailed report (html) - /home/oracle/orachk/orachk_ratlnx01_120211_114104/orachk_ratlnx01_120211_114104.html
UPLOAD(if required) - /home/oracle/orachk/orachk_ratlnx01_120211_114104.zip - At this point you may view the HTML output in the file shown in the output above.
If there is an active SR which orachk was recommended as part of its resolution, upload the orachk_*.zip to that SR.
